The Conference took place at the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb and gathered not only distinguished academic experts in the field of energy law, maritime law, corporate law and commercial law, but also interested practitioners. Principal investigator of this project prof. dr. sc. Edita Čulinović-Herc and Nikolina Grković presented results of research made within this project, under the title: “New Forms of Entrepreneurial Financing – How to Tackle Investment Based Crowdfunding”, which is also the topic of Nikolina Grković’s PhD thesis. Presentation highlighted the need for regulatory approach to take into account the interests of all participants involved in the transaction: (retail) investors to whom this finance form became highly accessible and therefore should be educated about possible inherent risks, entrepreneurs – start-ups using investment based crowdfunding in order to raise capital that otherwise is not accessible within traditional sources of finance and web platform operator representing a new type of (financial) intermediary.
